At the meeting, Dr. Kim Chonghee briefly introduced about Sangmyung University - one of the high-ranking universities in South Korea. She expressed the desire to increase cultural and academic exchanges between the two universities, especially between Sangmyung University's programs such as family welfare and Korean language education and USSH's Sociology and Social work. She also suggested introducing the "1+1" master's program in Korean Studies.
On behalf of USSH's Board of Rectors, Assoc. Prof. Dr Tran Thi Minh Hoa highly appreciated the above suggestions and hoped the two sides would conclude a memorandum of understanding as soon as possible. The Vice Rector also hoped in the future the two sides would hold international conferences together.
Sangmyung University is a private university in Korea. It consists of the first campus in Seoul and the second campus in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do. In 1937, Sangmyung Women's College established in 1965, and Sangmyung Women's College in Cheonan in 1985. In 1987, the university was promoted to a university and changed its name to Sangmyung Women's University. In 1996, it changed into coeducation and changed its name to Sangmyung University. In 2006, Sangmyung Women's University began to admit men.
