At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr Tran Thi Minh Hoa briefly introduced about USSH as the leading institution of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. The University offers 24 bachelor's programs, 40 master's programs and 31 doctoral programs; initially developing its basic sciences and later expanding to applied sciences. It has signed MOUs with more than 300 international partners; including 4 MOUs with the Czech universities, the most recently of which was with Charles University in Prague in June 2016.
The Vice Rector said USSH would like to cooperate with the Czech universities to open Vietnamese studies and language centers in Czech, and implement other activities such as student and lecturer exchanges and common research projects. These activities would also contribute to educational cooperation between Vietnam and the former Soviet bloc's countries and Europe as a whole.
In response, Mr. Václaz Klaus expressed his gratitude for being warmly welcomed by USSH. He said he agreed with the idea of promoting cooperation between USSH and the Czech universities. These universities were promoting courses taught in English, which would help to attract more international students. Thus, he hoped to see more Vietnamese students coming to Czech to study and live. Furthermore, the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic's Chamber of Deputies would support the extension and amendments of the MOUs signed between USSH and its Czech partners.
Apart from education cooperation, together with the Czech Republic and other European countries' embassies in Vietnam, USSH organized a number of cultural exchanges and events such as the Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 23rd, 2018, and the exhibition "Kafka - Journey to the Vietnamese audience" on April 9th, 2018.
