Meeting with the representative of RMIT International University

On September 11th, 2017, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (USSH’s Rector) and representatives of the Office for Cooperation and Development welcomed and worked with the representative of RMIT International University, Vietnam Dr. Tan Boon Hwee (Hanoi Coordinator, School of Communication and Design).

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced about USSH as a leading educational institution in terms of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. The Rector emphasized the University's strategy of internationalization, especially the promotion of courses taught in English, the expansion of international cooperation, and the strengthening of international publication. USSH wishes to cooperate with RMIT International University through specific activities such as organizing joint seminars, and exchanging students and lecturers. At a personal level, the Rector also invited Dr. Tan Boon Hwee to participate in workshops and social training courses organized by the University.

Dr. Tan Boon Hwee would like to thank USSH for being warmly welcomed and invited to take part in the events organized by the University. Dr. Tan Boon Hwee also proposed some other options for bilateral cooperation such as the joint-publication of anthropological studies, inviting researchers and scholars from RMIT to give lectures at USSH, and cooperating in publishing a common journal. He also proposed signing a formal memorandum of understanding between the two sides in the future.

Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh expressed his appreciation of Dr. Tan Boon Hwee’s ideas and said USSH would do its best to complete the necessary procedures for the signing of a bilateral memorandum of agreement. The Office for Cooperation and Development will serve as a bridge between the two sides.

RMIT University Vietnam is the Vietnamese branch of the Australian research university the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, known in Australia as RMIT University. It has two campuses located in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. RMIT University Vietnam was officially founded in 2001, and commenced offering programs at its purpose-built campus in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2004, it established a second campus in the Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi. It currently offers undergraduate programs such as Bachelor of Business (Accountancy), Bachelor of Business (Information Systems) (Applied), Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance), Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship), Bachelor of Business (International Business) and postgraduate programs such as Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Business Administration.
