The conference attracted the interest and participation of various experts from Vietnam and the world such as from University of Gadjah Mada, Indonesia; the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Thailand Ministry of Education, etc.
There were 3 panels with their respective themes: political–security community; economic community, socio-cultural community.
The first panel was about “ASEAN political-security community: The key to national and regional integration in Southeast Asia.” In this panel, the main papers presented were: ASEAN and integration in Southeast Asia: the role of ASEAN political-security community; the future of ASEAN community after 2015: from the perspective of ASEAN political-security community; Towards the ASEAN political-security community: the upcoming challenges; ASEAN-America cooperation under the framework of the ASEAN political-security community since 2009.
The second panel was about “ASEAN economic community: The key to national and regional integration in Southeast Asia.” The main topics in this panel were: On the vision of ASEAN economic community after 2015 and the related issues; the ASEAN economic community and foreign direct investment: China’s perspective; ASEAN economic community: the prospects and implications for Vietnam; The readiness of Vietnam to join AEC.
The third panel was about “ASEAN socio-economic community: The key to national and regional integration in Southeast Asia.” The main topics were: ASEAN socio-cultural community and the participation of Vietnam; from national to regional identity: the challenges for ASEAN socio-cultural ASEAN; the awareness and actions of ASEAN community regarding humanitarian activities in response to natural disasters.
