USSH, VNU Hanoi and Senshu University have maintained official relations since 1999. Up to now USSH has sent 35 students to the latter, many of whom have become researchers, lecturers and managers working in various places and positions. Senshu University mostly offers programs in Humanities, Commerce and Law.
Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh said the relationship between two universities is traditional, friendly and has brought fruitful results. He hoped in the future, this lasting relationship will be continued and expanded in many directions.
This year, USSH's Division of Japanese studies has become an independent major admitting up to 60 students/year. This is an opportunity for USSH and Senshu University to further strengthen lecturer exchanges as well as common reserach and training projects. USSH hopes the two professors of Senshu University become supervisors of the former's staff and students. In return, if the latter wants to conduct studies on Vietnam or Southeast Asia, USSH can send experts to support and launch common projects. The two sides can also think of implementing joint training programs based on 1+3, 2+2 models.
In response, Prof. Hiroshi Kaneko expressed his gratefulness for the results of cooperation between two sides, including the training of human resources for USSH. He also agreed the two universities can open up new venues for cooperation.
For his part, Prof.Katsumi Shimane said Vietnam and Japan are strongly developing bilateral cooperation. If before, the Vietnamese were the ones interested in Japan's development and considered it a research subject, today there is a reverse trend. The Japanese are becoming more and more interested in Vietnam as well as the Asian nations. These are the advantages of cooperation between the two universities.
