Lancang-Mekong Youth Exchange and Cooperation Center to be established

On April 9th, 2019, Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH’s Rector) and representatives of Office for Academic Affairs and Office for Cooperation and Development welcomed Dr. Chen Luyi (President of Kingswell Group) (China).

The meeting revolved around the establishment of the Lancang-Mekong Youth Exchange and Cooperation Center, with the aim of promoting youth cultural exchange in basin cultures. The establishment ceremony of the Center will be held at Fudan University, Shanghai, China on July 22nd, 2019. Leaders of eight partner universities in East Asia, including USSH are invited to sign the MOU on the Establishment of the Center. Rector Pham Quang Minh has been invited as the representative of USSH to this ceremony.

In addition, the 3rd Lancang-Mekong Youth Training Camp for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will be held at Qinghai University and Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, China from July 20th-28th, 2019. Representing USSH, a group of students from Faculty of International Studies will participate in the Camp with their project “Plátano Vietnam”, in which banana raw materials will be used to create a new line of environmental-friendly product in the form of pictures made from banana trees. The project has already won the Youth Innovation Competition on Lancang-Mekong Region’s Governance and Development 2019.

On behalf of USSH, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the idea of establishing the Lancang-Mekong Youth Exchange and Cooperation Center. The University expressed its support and willingness to become a partner of 7 other universities within the Center. The Rector also expressed his thanks to Kingswell Group for their readiness to support said start-up project of USSH’s students. This will be chance for the students to apply their acquired knowledge into practical endeavors.
