At the meeting, Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh said USSH and National Dong Hwa University signed a memorandum of understanding in March, 2018. On that basis, the Rector proposed the two sides begin cooperation through such activities as exchanging students and learners through joint training programs and short-term courses; holding international conferences on topics related to Vietnam-Taiwan relations; and conduct common research projects.
In response, Prof. Yuan Ron Ma expressed his thanks to the warm reception by USSH. He highly appreciated the ideas of cooperation of Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh. He further informed, National Dong Hwa University was going to establish a Vietnam-Taiwan Research Institute and invited Prof. Dr Hoang Ba Thinh (USSH's Center for Gender, Population, Environment and Social Affairs) to be one of its directors. He also introduced about the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP) for interns and the Vietnam Elite Study in Taiwan (VEST 500) for Vietnamese master's and doctoral fellows.
Prof. Dr Pham Quang Minh expressed his hope the Vietnam-Taiwan Research Institute soon become a hub for academic exchanges and a bridge between two universities. USSH will help train Vietnamese language for the Taiwanese lecturers working at the Institute.
