- 1 - The 13th International Conference on Thai Studies (ICTS 13), to be held during July 15-18, 2017, in the collaborations with several Thai universities. The main theme of ICTS 13 is “Globalized Thailand? Connectivity, Conflict, and Conundrums of Thai Studies” with several sub-themes which reflect emerging issues in Thai society as it has increasingly become related to and a part of the larger global network. The conference aims to encourage scholars and students of Thai Studies to critically examine the dynamics of Thai society in the context of globalization as it concerns not only the relationships between Thailand and its neighbors, but also Thailand and the world. Although ICTS is largely about Thai Studies, it also includes the study of cultures and the interrelationships of ethnic minorities in Thai society, as well as the diaspora of Thai people and other Tai-speaking peoples/communities outside of Thailand.
