At the meeting, representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, there was the attendance of Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the university, and leaders of departments and faculties/institutes and many VNU-USSH lecturers and students.
On the side of the Journal of Vietnamese Studies, there were Associate Professor Kathlene Baldanza - an expert in Asian Studies and History at Pennsylvania State University, USA and Associate Professor Martina Thucnhi Nguyen – A history expert at the Baruch College, New York, USA with members of the magazine.
Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, hopes that valuable scientific researches of VNU-USSH, with the support of JVS, will be more accessible to the Vietnamese and international scientific research community.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU aims to take the lead in training high-quality human resources; research, create and spread knowledge in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences. Research on the historical, cultural, social, country, and people traditions of Vietnam; Vietnam's specific development model and path; role and position of Vietnam in regional and international relations; national sovereignty and security, in which focusing on research on borders, sea and islands, territorial processes, etc. are priority research directions favoring the university's strengths. Therefore, VNU-USSH scientists have many advantages in publishing research works and articles in prestigious domestic and international journals, including Vietnam Research Journal.
At the meeting, scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU had an active discussion with a representative of the Vietnam Research Journal about research methods as well as crucial elements of the research articles to meet the publication criteria of JVS. According to the representative of The Journal of Vietnamese Studies, the topics and articles need to emphasize the new research values derived from reality in the fields of history, politics, culture, and society in Vietnam. With the publication on JVS, scientific topics and articles will open up opportunities to interact with the international scientific community in the aforementioned research fields.
The representative of JVS magazine also wishes to connect with scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU in book reviews and many other in-depth research activities.
The Journal of Vietnamese Studies (JVS) is a journal published by the University of California Press. The journal was first launched in 2006 and is published on behalf of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies of the University of California at Berkeley. The journal publishes research in the fields of social sciences and humanities (Vietnamese history, politics, culture and society), including book reviews, communication with editors, translating documents and texts into Vietnamese. The journal's ISSN number is 1559-372X.
